City of Palm Bay Gives an Update on Completion of St. John’s Heritage Parkway

The St. John’s Heritage Parkway has an amended substantial completion date of December 8,  which was originally anticipated for December 2.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The St. John’s Heritage Parkway has an amended substantial completion date of December 8,  which was originally anticipated for December 2.

The amended substantial completion date accounts for rain delays on October 21, October 25, October 28, November 5, November 14, and on November 15.

The total number of weather-related delays for the project is 61 days, which is permissible under the agreement with the City’s contractor, Community Asphalt.

Construction activities are ongoing, with curbing completed, base rock nearing completion and roadways being primed for paving. Asphalt paving is expected to begin this week.

The City of Palm Bay is collaborating with the Florida Department of Transportation to coordinate the opening of the new Interstate 95 interchange.

Project managers continue to coordinate with Brevard County officials regarding a right-of-way permit and the installation of a traffic signal.

The City is also working closely with Florida Power and Light to ensure that the transformer and meter for the temporary traffic signal pole is operational for the opening of the roadway.

Additional updates will be released as construction on the St. John’s Heritage Parkway nears final completion.
