BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Cocoa Police Department, in partnership with Cocoa Walmart and Cocoa Community First, hosted the annual Shop with a Cop on Wednesday morning.

Officers and children met in the main parking lot in front of Eastern Florida State College starting at 8:30 in preparation for departure at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Officers escorted the children in a lights and sirens VIP parade from the college heading north on Clearlake Road until arriving at the Walmart, 2700 Clearlake Road.

Santa and Walmart employees greeted the children and officers with a “red carpet” style entry and the children each had $100 to spend on whatever they want.

Employees and volunteers helped wrap the gifts and the children received Christmas treats and visited Santa before returning to school.

All the children participating in the program were selected by their teachers and school administrators.

Shop with a Cop is possible through a grant from Cocoa Walmart and donations made to Cocoa Community First, the police department’s non-profit which supports the agency’s youth and community outreach programs throughout the year.
