Florida Tech Men’s Swimming Team Concludes Their First Race of 2020 vs. Tampa University

Florida Tech men’s swimming began their 2020 journey at the Panther Aquatic Center as they hosted Tampa University. Tech concluded the meet with 62 points, while Tampa finished the day with 142 points.  (FIT Image)

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s swimming began their 2020 journey at the Panther Aquatic Center as they hosted Tampa University. Tech concluded the meet with 62 points, while Tampa finished the day with 142 points. 

Robert Catron and Jacob Coutant finished back-to-back in the 200-yard butterfly. Catron took second with a time of 2:01.99, while Coutant recorded a 2:03.80 finish.

Farran Barker (49.20), Yohann Emmert (49.88), and Joao Nascimento (50.87) competed in the 100-yard freestyle to award the Panthers 10 points. Barker recorded a new personal best with today’s performance beating his seed time of 49.34.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Nathaniel Allen (2:05.38) and Ferron Van Ritter (2:06.73) took second and third to award the Panthers with seven points.

Samuel Hartle (5:01.90) and Ethan Kennedy (5:02.74) finished top three in the 500-yard freestyle. Another top-three performance was seen by Jose Coiman-Acosta (2:14.56) and Brandon Blair (2:21.97) in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The Crimson and Gray are back in action next Friday.
