Man Killed In Cocoa Officer-Involved Shooting on Wednesday off Prospect Avenue

SPACE COAST DAILY TV: One man was killed in an officer-involved shooting incident on Wednesday evening off Prospect Avenue in Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – One man was killed in an officer-involved shooting incident on Wednesday evening off Prospect Avenue in Cocoa.

According to Cocoa Police Department Chief Mike Cantaloupe, officers responded at 5:17 p.m. to a report of what he termed an “armed subject attacking a female.”

“As they were responding to the scene, the officers encountered an armed male and a female. The male was attacking the female,” Cantaloupe said.

From that point, an officer discharged his weapon, fatally wounding the male suspect.

The female victim “had some stab wounds,” Cantaloupe said.

“Our thoughts and prayers do go out to the family of the deceased,” Cantaloupe added.

The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
