Melbourne Police Department to Host Community Academy Starting March 4

The Melbourne Police Department will host a 12 week-long Community Academy starting on March 4 through May 27. Classes will be held every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department will host a 12 week-long Community Academy starting on March 4 through May 27. Classes will be held every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Community Academy is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who either work or live in the City of Melbourne. All applicants will be subject to a background check.

The class is free, the only cost to participants is their time. Participants are required to attend at least 10 of the 12 classes to graduate.

The majority of classes will be at the Melbourne Police Department, located at 650 Apollo Boulevard in Melbourne.

The Community Academy is designed to foster a better understanding of law enforcement and how the Melbourne police officers work with the community to prevent, detect, and deter crime.

The attendees are provided with an inside look into the operations, investigations and policies of the department through presentations and hands-on training.
