Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on U.S. 1 in Port St. John on Tuesday Evening

A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian near the intersection of U.S. 1 and Delivery Ave. on Tuesday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT ST. JOHN, FLORIDA – A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian near the intersection of U.S. 1 and Delivery Avenue on Tuesday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The victim has been identified as a 57-year-old man from Cocoa.

The name of the victim killed in the crash will be released after the family has been properly notified by authorities.

According to the investigation, the pedestrian walked into the direct path of a 2004 Dodge Durango that was traveling southbound on U.S. 1 at around 8:25 p.m.

Lt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash and has been identified as 38-year-old Richard Lay from Aurora, Colorado.

The crash is still under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol.
