BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Runners and walkers of all skill levels are encouraged to race through Brevard Zoo for a “Bear Bustle,” sponsored by Health First, on Saturday, February 8.

Organized by the Running Zone Foundation, the Bear Bustle 3k will be the 14th annual race held at the Zoo.

Proceeds from the events have thus far raised more than $95,000 for the Zoo’s animal wellness, conservation and education programs.

“Since we started with Buzzard’s Bait in 2007, these races have become a beloved family tradition,” said Michelle Smurl, director of animal programs at the Zoo and a co-organizer of the 3k.

“They’re great fun whether you’re running, walking or just cheering someone on.”

Participants who can finish in under 20 minutes should opt for the 7 a.m. race, while those who need more time can begin at 7:35 a.m.

A free “kiddie run” follows. All participants receive a race shirt, breakfast, beer, for ages 21 and up, 50% off Zoo admission on the day of the event, race number is required, and the chance to win a $500 Disney gift card.

Registration is available HERE or in person at the Zoo from 6 to 6:45 a.m. on the day of the race.
