Scott Caron, 24, of Merritt Island Killed in Motorcycle Crash Saturday Morning on State Road 407

The Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene of a fatal motorcycle vs. vehicle crash that shut down State Road 407 near State Road 528 on Saturday morning at about 7 a.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Scott Caron, 24, of Merritt Island, who was riding a 2019 Yamaha motorcycle, was killed in the crash.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene of a fatal motorcycle vs. vehicle crash that shut down State Road 407 near State Road 528 on Saturday morning at about 7 a.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Scott Caron, 24, of Merritt Island was riding a 2019 Yamaha motorcycle and was killed in the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes said that Caron was traveling eastbound on State Road 407 when the crash occurred.

According to Lt. Montes, Steven Tayge of Cocoa was driving a 2016 Honda Accord westbound on State Road 407 and Ivan Perun was traveling eastbound on State Road 407, in front of Caron, and as he approached the rear Perun’s 2005 Lexus, Caron traveled into the westbound lanes to pass, in a passing zone.

Lt. Montes said Caron failed to see Tayge’s Honda and was struck head-on. The left side of Perun’s Lexus was damaged from debris.

Tayge was taken to Parrish Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
