BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Central Catholic High School senior Edward Brunger was presented with a Florida Tech STEM Star Award by Florida Institute of Technology civil engineering professor Paul Cosentino in a ceremony Thursday.

Brunger was nominated by Melbourne Central Catholic High School teacher Richelle Lierman as a Florida Tech STEM Star because he exemplifies a student who seamlessly integrates all STEM fields.

In addition to being an outstanding STEM student, Brunger organized a STEM camp last summer for middle school students to instruct and inspire them on the finer points of STEM.

“I’m honored that Miss Lierman nominated me as she initiated my interest in STEM, and the MCC science department is amazing,” said Brunger in accepting the award.

“My drive is to one day serve in the United States military and through my interest in both science and mathematics, I feel I can contribute selflessly to the needs of our country.”
