One victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to two patients in distress in the water off Ocean Avenue in Melbourne Beach on Monday afternoon (BCFR image).

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue personnel responded to a report of two swimmers in distress in the waters off Ocean Avenue in Melbourne Beach on Monday afternoon, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue Chief Mark Schollmeyer.

One person was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening while a second patient refused to be transported, Schollmeyer said.

Schollmeyer added that personnel from the Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
