UPDATE: Innocent Motorist Killed in Titusville Shooting Identified as 62- Year-Old Rickie Gilbert

Gilbert passed away due to injuries on Wednesday morning
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – An innocent motorist who succumbed to his injuries after being shot following an exchange of gunfire in Titusville on Tuesday has been identified, according to the Titusville Police Department.
Rickie Gilbert, 62, of Titusville was driving a 2003 Toyota Rav4 northbound on Deleon Ave. at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday when he was shot.
The car subsequently crashed after Gilbert was wounded. Gilbert was pronounced deceased at a local hospital on Wednesday morning.
According to a release from the TPD, police responded at 5:30 p.m. responded to a report of shots fired in the areas of Queen Street and Elizabeth Avenue, S. Deleon Avenue and Sprout Lane and the 500 block of Rock Pit Road within seconds of each other.
A police investigation revealed that shots were fired from an unidentified vehicle into a 2018 Nissan Altima as the vehicles traveled south on Deleon Avenue.
Police say that persons in the vehicles knew each other and have had a past history of altercations.
The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries on Tuesday.
He ultimately passed away due to those injuries on Wednesday morning.
A juvenile, who was in the Nissan Altima, was self-transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, police add.
