BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Nest on Merritt Island is home to Brevard County’s first community human milk depot for registered donors to contribute extra pumped milk to the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida.

The facility is located at 360 Tangerine Avenue in Merritt Park Place.

The Nest will feature a soft opening with milk donations accepted by appointment only in early February with a “Milk and Cookies” grand opening event on Valentine’s Day, February 14, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Donor milk is delivered to Orlando where it is pasteurized and purposefully prepared for preterm or sick newborn babies and children throughout the state of Florida. “give, nourish, thrive” are the three messages of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida.

The Nest is the newest partner to the bank located on the Space Coast of Florida where the breastfeeding community continues to grow and thrive.

Partners in care supporting expectant, adoptive or new parents through establishing breastfeeding and beyond, lactation consultants Rebecca Goff, APRN, IBCLC and Laene Keith, MA, CCC/SLP, IBCLC are collaborating to offer the first of its kind, certified donor human milk depot in Brevard County, Florida.

Depots are collection sites only; no pasteurized milk is available there for purchase. The milk remains “raw” until pasteurized at the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida in Orlando, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Human Milk Banking Association of North America.
