ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GEORGIA (EFSC Titans) – The Eastern Florida State College women’s golf team opens the spring season Monday at the Coastal Georgia Spring Invitational at the King and Prince Golf Course in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

The women’s team enters the spring as the No. 3 team in the GolfStat NJCAA national rankings and are led by sophomore Kacey Walker who was the tournament medalist with a 151 than included a 79 in the first round and an even-par 72 score in the second round.

Overall, the Titans finished second in the tournament last season and head into this year’s tournament confident.

“We finished the fall ranked third and Seminole and Daytona are two powerhouse programs, but I am not bothered by anyone we are playing, I will take my five,” Eastern Florida State College women’s golf coach Jamie Howell said.

“We are closing the gap but we have to get better at the little things and if we do that, it will allow the bigger things to take care of themselves.”

Sophomores Trinity Falzone and Delia Timpy are both back after strong finishes in last year’s tournament as Falzone finished ninth and Timpy was 13th.

Freshmen Sloane Lanier and Elise Boccabella will be playing in their first spring event in Georgia after having strong showings in the fall.

The event is the first of four regular-season tournaments for the women’s golf team this spring.
