The incident prompted Astronaut High School to go into a lockdown on Tuesday while police worked to secure the scene.
The teen has been identified as a 16-year-old male student who was a former Astronaut High School student.
The investigation began Tuesday (Feb. 11) when the suspect drove onto the campus of Astronaut High School around 10 a.m. and waved a firearm while threatening students. The suspect then fled the scene in a stolen 2015 black Honda Accord.
