BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police Department and SWAT team hosted the Titusville 2k K9 Trot on Saturday.

The event was held on the date that a former Titusville Police Officer Stephen F. House was killed in the line of duty in 1989.

The “trot” saw runners go over and back across the A. Max Brewer Bridge.

Patrons also had the opportunity to meet and take photos with Titusville K9s including Draco, a German Shepherd and a trio of Belgian Malignois breeds named Jack, Scooby and Chase at nearby Sand Point Park.

“It’s so nice that regular citizens can come up and meet them and talk to the K9 officers and actually get to pet the dogs,” said Amy Matthews, public information officer with the Titusville Police Department.

Proceeds from the event were slated to go towards the Titusville Police Youth Foundation along with the TPD’s K9s and SWAT.

“It’s a wonderful turnout out there and I’m glad everybody came out,” said Titusville K9 officer Jason Sanchez.
