BREVARD COVID-19 UPDATE: Space Coast Sits at Nine Reported Cases of Coronavirus, Currently 1,412 Positive Cases in Florida

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As of Tuesday afternoon, Brevard County sits at nine reported cases of COVID-19, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Reported COVID-19 cases in Brevard County include a 32-year-old man employed by Northrop Grumman and is travel-related in connection with Pennsylvania and Utah; a 76-year-old woman who traveled to New York; a 49-year-old man that is non-travel-related; a 64-year-old Suntree woman who traveled to Washington D.C., New York and Pennsylvania; a 74-year-old man that was determined to be non-travel-related; a 64-year-old man who traveled to Hati; and a 32-year-old woman with no travel history.
On Tuesday, the Florida Department of Health reported 183 new coronavirus cases in the state since Tuesday morning and said that the total cases in Florida now stand at 1,412.
“If you follow the basic rules that the CDC has recommended, such as maintaining good hygiene, washing your hands, and maintaining proper social distance from people, you are going to be okay if you follow those guidelines,” said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis during a COVID-19 press event.
Central Florida COVID-19 reported cases include Brevard County, 9; Indian River County, 11; Lake County, 14; Orange County: 50; Osceola County, 26; Polk County, 13; Seminole County: 23; and Volusia County, 18.

Florida recently partnered with private laboratories around the state to expand COVID-19 laboratory testing capacity.
This partnership will increase the number of tests conducted each day and ensure Floridians receive the critical health information they need in a timely manner.

Private laboratories are running tests as they receive swab samples from practitioners. Testing and reporting times vary among commercial and DOH laboratories.
