BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –The Eastern Florida State College softball team sweeps Hagerstown Community College at Dodgertown in Vero Beach on Monday.

Sophomore Katelyn Wilfert struck out a career-high 12 hitters in the first game, allowing two hits in a 2-0 win. Wilfert’s 12 strikeouts is the most for a Titans pitcher since 2016 when Alexa Snyder struck out 12 against St. Cloud Tech.

The Titans broke out in the third inning, Madison Neuhaus drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly, scoring Taylor Ignacio. Then Wilfert delivered a single that scored Sarah Thomas to make it 2-0.

From there it was all Wilfert who walked just one hitter for her 13th win. Thomas finished with three hits in the game.

In Game 2 the Titans took control in the second inning, scoring four times to move on for a 7-1 victory.

Already up 1-0, Gabriella Garcia hit a single that scored both Makenzie Wilson and Ignacio to make it 3-0. Neuhaus would make it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly. Morgan Johnston made it 5-0 in the third inning with an RBI double that scored Wilson.

In the fifth inning Johnston drove in another run on a double and then Jaydyn Ahl hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-1.

Wilson finished with two hits and scored three times while Garcia and Johnston each had two hits.

McKinleigh Millard allowed one run on five hits, striking out six for her fifth win of the season.

The win was the 20th of the season for Eastern Florida State College, who will host Broward College Wednesday evening in a Southern Conference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex.
