UPDATE: 63-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Head-On Crash On Saturday in Mims Identified

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that 63-year-old Charles Garrad from Columbus, Ohio was killed about 2 a.m. Saturday morning in a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash.

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol reported that 63-year-old Charles Garrad from Columbus, Ohio was killed about 2 a.m. Saturday morning in a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes, Garrad was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 1 and Wiley Avenue on a Harley Davison motorcycle and crashed head-on into Joseph Dillon, 30, of Mims, who was driving a 2017 Kia.

Garrad, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the Parrish Medical Center where he later died. Dillon, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Lt. Montes said that the reason the Garrad was traveling in the wrong lane is currently unknown and an investigation is underway.
