BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s Derek Murphy was selected to the All-Sunshine State Conference second team after another impressive season on the hardwood for the Panther basketball team. This is the second year in a row that Murphy earned second-team honors.

A redshirt-senior forward, Murphy led Tech in both scoring and rebounding for the second straight season. The Detroit, Michigan product averaged 20.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 2019-20. He ranked Top-5 in the SSC in both categories. He was also second in the league in defensive rebounding (6.0) and minutes played (36.7) per game.

Murphy recorded 10 double-doubles this season and had 11 games where he scored 20 or more points, including a career-high 44 points in a win over Eckerd on Jan. 8.

Murphy appeared in 100 games over his career and averaged 13.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He ranks 14th all-time in program history with 1,393 career points and is 12th all-time with 556 rebounds.
