Florida Tech Women’s Lacrosse Make Season Debut in Division 2 Polls Ranking No.18 Overall

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Following an impressive start to the 2020 season, the Florida Tech women’s lacrosse team made its season debut in both Division II polls.

The Panthers are ranked No. 18 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Top 20 and slipped in at No. 25 in the IWLCA Coaches Top 25 poll. Tech received 67 votes to make the final spot in the IWLCA ranking.

Florida Tech is 6-1 this season and coming off a week in which they knocked off the No. 5 team in the nation, Regis, 14-13 in Tuesday’s home opener. The Panthers then almost upset No. 16 Concordia St. Paul, losing in overtime 11-10. Tech finished the week with a 17-13 victory over Kutztown.

The Panthers have another ranked opponent on their docket for their next game on Wednesday, Mar. 11, against Mercy College. The Mavericks are No. 11 in the IWLCA poll and 13th in the Nike/US Lacrosse ranking.

The matchup between Tech and Mercy will begin at 7 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
