Melbourne Police Address Viral Social Media Post About Beach Party at Paradise Beach Park

ABOVE VIDEO: Brevard County Commission and Policy Group Chairman Bryan Lober provided an update on Brevard County government’s response to the Coronavirus threat, including news on closing down beachside parks and parking access starting Thursday, but keeping the beaches open to the public.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA  – The Melbourne Police Department has been made aware of a viral social media post regarding a large party today at Paradise Beach Park.

Police addressed the social media post on Wednesday by emphasizing officers would be monitoring the gathering and reminded party-goers of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ latest directive to limit COVID-19 cases in Florida.

“This is a reminder you that there is a directive from the Governor that limits groups of no more than 10 persons to gather and recommends 6-foot distancing to limit the spread of COVID-19,” said Melbourne Police in a released statement.

“This reminder is an effort to keep all beachgoers and our entire community safe.”

Additionally, Melbourne Police mentioned several officers will be patrolling the beaches to ensure all state and local laws are followed.

This will include, but not be limited to alcohol violations, parking enforcement, and disorderly conduct.
