Parrish Medical Center’s Alternate Care Site Ready to Serve Public Health Emergency

Patients with flu-like symptoms or with a fever are given a mask to wear before entering
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Parrish Medical Center’s Alternate Care Site (ACS) has been established. It is 40 x 60 feet in size, air-conditioned and equipped with computers and supplies.
PMC’s ACS can be quickly converted into a medical treatment site to allow for expanded bed capacity and patient care as needed.
“Currently, PMC’s ACS is being used as a centralized−clearance station before anyone is granted access into the hospital.
This is necessary to protect the health and wellbeing of our health care professionals (care partners), and the patients in our care,” said Natalie Sellers, Vice President, Communications, Community & Corporate Services.
When reporting for duty, employees and physicians are being cleared using the CDC recommended non-diagnostic screening questions and their temperatures are taken before being granted access into the hospital. The ACS is not a COVID-19 testing site.
Non-urgent patients who are seeking care in the ER are also screened within the ACS before entering the ER lobby using the same CDC recommended screening questions and having a temperature check.
Patients with flu-like symptoms or with a fever are given a mask to wear before entering.
Urgent or emergent patients do not go through the ACS. They are immediately taken into the ER for care and screening is conducted per CDC guidelines.
“These, and our new visitor restrictions, are necessary safety precautions to keep our hospital environment a safe and healing environment for everyone,” said Sellers.
