Port Authority Officials Talk About Coronavirus, Projects During Propeller Club Luncheon

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Micah Loyd, chairman of the Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners, and Port Director and CEO Capt. John Murray addressed the Propeller Club of Port Canaveral’s March luncheon on Wednesday at Fishlips.

Loyd updated guests on Port projects and Murray talked about the Port’s preventive action plan meant to impede the spread of Coronavirus.

He is a resident of Titusville and was elected from District 2 for a term beginning in November 2016.

He is a Certified General Contractor and second-generation business owner of Loyd Contracting, Inc., who also serves on the North Brevard Economic Development Zone Board.

Loyd attended the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

Murray joined the Canaveral Port Authority in February 2016. A highly respected maritime executive, he brings a wealth of maritime experience to his role as Chief Executive Officer and Port Director for one of the world’s most dynamic ports.

Prior to joining CPA, Murray was president and chief executive officer of Hapag-Lloyd USA, the U.S.-flag shipping subsidiary of Hapag-Lloyd AG, a leading global liner shipping company.

A 40-year maritime industry veteran, he has held numerous positions of responsibility, rising through the management ranks following various mergers and acquisitions at Lykes Lines, CP Ships and finally, Hapag-Lloyd.
