SEAT cars are produced by a subsidiary of the German Volkswagen Group – SEAT, S.A. The company was founded in 1950 by the National Industrial Institute (INI).
The history of SEAT started when the Fiat Italian company opened its branch in Barcelona. The headquarters is located in Martorell, Catalonia, Spain.
The first car took off the conveyor in 1953. Today the company’s range includes crossovers, minivans, hatchbacks and estates.
Technical features of Seat cars
The manufacturer equips the modern models with fuel efficient engines with low emissions levels. Particularly, such vehicles as Ibiza, Leon, and Arona are available in TGI variants.
This technology uses both petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG); this fuel flexibility allows reducing emissions and fuel consumption of the brand cars.
A whole variety of power units is available for a customer choice: turbocharged 1.0- and 1.5-litre, 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesel and 1.5-litre TGI engines.
For instance, the 2.0 TDI diesel power unit has 148 hp output and 320 Nm maximum torque. Due to this, the Leon model equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission is able to reach 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds. Its top speed is 215 km/h and combined cycle fuel consumption – about 4.5 litres of diesel.
All cars manufactured by the company are characterized by high levels of safety and comfort. Thus, the new Tarraco 7-seat crossover (2019) equipped with Pre-Crash & Rollover Assist, Front Assist, Parking sensors, driver and front passenger, side and curtain airbags, got 5 possible stars during the Euro NCAP crash-tests performed in 2019.
In addition, this car has Tiredness Recognition System, which analyzes driver’s condition and warns him in case of drowsiness, SEAT Digital Cockpit with 10.25-inch screen and many other useful features.
