BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Solaris Senior Living Merritt Island and Sunflower House will co-present a Healthy Snacking seminar at 12 noon on Monday, March 23.

Americans get an average of 24 percent of their calories from snacks, according to The Journal of Nutrition.

With snacks providing this much of the day’s calories, choosing healthy options can prevent overeating and improve overall health.

The event will be held at Sunflower House, a senior caregiver resource center located inside Merritt Square Mall, located at 777 E. Merritt Island Causeway.

Solaris Senior Living Dietary Director, Teri Mortier, will discuss how healthy snacking can prevent overeating, help keep blood sugar levels steady, and more.

“We’ll learn how snacking wisely can give us much needed extra energy, help with weight loss, and curb afternoon slumps,” said Mortier.

RSVP’s are required for the free event. Lunch is included.

“We’re excited to partner with Solaris Senior Living to bring this event to local seniors. Snacking healthfully is a great way for seniors and their caregivers to care for themselves and improve their health.

RSVP and come join us March 23,” adds Aly Elmasian, Director of Home and Community Based Services for Sunflower House and Aging Matters.
