Titusville Carjackers Arrested in Georgia After Multiple Carjacking Incidents
By Wayne Ivey, Brevard Sheriff // March 8, 2020
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – This afternoon, I am extremely pleased to announce that the two suspects wanted in connection with the February 18 carjacking on I-95 in Titusville, have been arrested and are now sitting behind bars where they belong.
The investigation began on February 18, when two suspects unsuccessfully attempted to carjack a vehicle from a victim at the BP Gas Station located at 3460 Garden Street in Titusville.
The suspects then traveled to the Executive Garden Hotel at 3480 Garden Street, at which time they successfully carjacked a second victim, resulting in the victim sustaining substantial physical injuries requiring hospitalization.
During the second carjacking, the suspects stole the victim’s Dodge Ram Pick-up truck and fled onto I-95 where they crashed into a semi-truck.
The suspects then fled from the disabled vehicle and carjacked another victim who stopped to render aid, after witnessing the traffic crash. The suspects again used physical force to obtain this victim’s vehicle and fled the area.
As the investigation continued Agents with the North Precinct General Crimes Unit were able to identify both the suspects and obtain arrest warrants that were signed by a Brevard County Judge for their arrest.
As a result, 25-year-old Lanorris Habersham, of Pompano Beach, was arrested on February 20 in Louisville, Georgia.
She has subsequently been extradited back to Brevard County where he is currently incarcerated in the Brevard County Jail with No Bond.
In addition, 26 year-old Jalen Smith, of Pompano Beach, was arrested on March 5 by the U.S. Marshall’s Task Force, which the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is an active member in Swainsboro, Georgia.
Smith is currently awaiting extradition back to Brevard County as both suspects face charges of Carjacking and Violation of Probation.
The arrests were made possible through the cooperative effort of the Sheriff’s Office North Precinct General Crimes Unit, the GAMEOVER Task Force and U.S Marshall’s Task Force.
The Sheriff’s Office is also working closely with the Titusville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies who are conducting investigations relating to these two suspects.
If anyone has any additional information on this case, please contact Agent Jeff Dobrowsky with the North Precinct General Crimes Unit at (321) 264-5210.
Please join me in thanking everyone involved in the investigation and arrest of these two extremely violent criminals and thugs.
While these investigations are often very difficult to solve, the victims, witnesses and agents in this case are to be commended for getting these two cowards and disgusting individuals off our streets and safely behind bars where they can’t victimize anyone else.
