The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Brevard County is offering a virtual class on backyard chickens, coming up on April 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Brevard County is offering a virtual class on backyard chickens, coming up on April 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The class will be provided over the videoconferencing service Zoom, and costs $10.

This class will cover local ordinances and management requirements of rearing backyard chickens and meets the requirements of several Brevard County cities that require a chicken class. ​

The class disseminates research-based information pertaining to the production of small chicken flocks in Brevard County.

The major goals of this class are to provide information on the safe rearing and handling of chickens, production and consumption of home-raised eggs, legal restrictions and ordinances, health concerns, and poultry management.
