BREVARD COVID-19 UPDATE: Space Coast Reports 72 Coronavirus Cases, 21 Cases are Hospitalized

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As of Saturday evening, Brevard County has 72 reported cases of COVID-19, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Among the 72 cases reported in Brevard County are 38 men and 34 women, including a 1-year-old boy and 94-year-old man.

The current Brevard list includes 66 Florida residents and six non-residents. COVID-19 cases requiring hospitalization is 21.

According to the Florida Department of Health, the cases in Brevard geographically include 2 in Mims, 3 in Titusville, 3 in Merritt Island, 4 in Cocoa, 3 in Rockledge, 3 in Cocoa Beach, 5 in Satellite Beach, 2 in Indian Harbour Beach, 26 in Melbourne, 1 in West Melbourne, 13 in Palm Bay, and 1 in Malabar.

On Saturday, the Florida Department of Health reported a total of 11,545 confirmed cases in the state with 1,470 hospitalized.

Deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Florida are 195 as of Saturday evening.

While Florida’s testing has increased over the past week, the percent of those testing positive for COVID-19 overall is 11 percent. Of the 11,725 tests performed on April 3, there were 1,597 positive results, or 14 percent.

New Florida cases include 434 additional positive COVID-19 cases (413 Florida residents and 21 non-Florida residents) reported to the Florida Department of Health.  There are currently 11,173 positive cases in Florida residents and 372 positive cases in non-Florida residents.
