BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – The City of Cocoa Beach announced on Tuesday that they will ease restrictions on beach access by allowing beach activities, including sitting or lying on the beach in groups of 5 or less while still practicing social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, beach parking areas will remain closed and standing on beach crossover locations must require the social distancing requirement.
City officials say they seen ‘strong compliance’ by residents over the last few weeks.
“Thank you for your assistance in following the new order and congratulations on following previous guidelines in order to allow relaxation of certain rules,” said Cocoa Beach City Manager Jim McKnight.
The implementation of the revised restrictions will go into effect at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The order will continue until it expires, which is still under review.
