Eastern Florida State’s Thomas Matthews Named to NJCAA PING All-District Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College men’s golfer Thomas Matthews was named to the NJCAA PING All-District Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The sophomore from Wrexham, Wales was named to the District IV team for the second straight season. Matthews had finished in the top four in all three of his tournaments in the spring season including a second-place finish at the Coastal Alabama Invitational.

In the fall season Matthews picked up his first collegiate win, capturing the GMI Bulldog Classic in Lake Oconee, Georgia. He also lost in a playoff to finish second at the Trojan Invitational in Mississippi.

Overall in his sophomore season, Matthews finished in the top five in six events with a win, three second-place finishes and two fourth-place finishes.
