BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – With the storm season just over a month away, the National Weather Service in Melbourne introduces the people behind the forecasts.

Warning Coordination Meteorologist Scott Spratt has been with the National Weather Service in Melbourne for 27 years after previously serving at the Jackson, Mississippi office.

Spratt holds a B.S. from the University of Lowell and an M.S. from the University of Hawaii, both in meteorology.

He is responsible for creating and conducting severe weather preparedness exercises, providing high-impact weather briefings for emergency management planning, performing storm damage surveys, and providing weather outreach and education to the public.

Spratt’s favorite part about the National Weather Service in Melbourne is working jointly with the very dedicated and talented public safety partners to help keep the citizens of east-central Florida informed and safe during hazardous weather events.
