Who would not enjoy living in a resort, in a marvelous place where you are catered to all your wishes and where the atmosphere and the view is magnificent?

For most of us, resort living usually means a couple of weeks of vacation in just such special places, if we are lucky.

If, on the other hand, you are one of the fortunate residents of Victoria Landing, the assisted living community by the shores of the Indian River in the Eau Gallie Arts District, resort living is 24/7, 365 days a year.

Comparing Victoria Landing with many other assisted living communities is akin to comparing a Kentucky Derby winner to a draft horse. Sure, they are both from the same species, but here the similarities end.

Victoria Landing addresses the physical, mental, intellectual, social and spiritual health of residents with a host of amenities only found at a luxury haven. Everything they need and want is readily available, and delivered with a grand view, too.

While some assisted living facilities are operated by large impersonal corporations located far away, Victoria Landing’s owners are not just in town, they are neighbors.

During a 2004 visit to Brevard, John and Barbara Rumpel caught sight of a tall building perched riverside by the Eau Gallie Causeway. As it happened, the building was for sale, so the couple jumped at the opportunity to own the perfectly situated property.

Instead of using as just another investment, however, they created an investment in their future, a waterfront, resort-style, assisted living facility where they and their fellow residents could enjoy a carefree, affordable, rewarding lifestyle now and in the future.

“Their plan is to provide an atmosphere and amenities that they can provide and also enjoy,” said Lindsey Deaton, marketing, concierge and social media director.

The Rumpels, who occupy the 12th-floor penthouse at Victoria Landing, are frequent participants of the many events their facility offers.

“You can often see them during Happy Hour or at many of our other events,” added Deaton.

The name of the facility honors the memory of the Rumple’s daughter, Victoria, who died at 19 in a scuba diving accident. The couple vowed to remember Victoria’s life by creating a place that joyously celebrates life each and every day.
