BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey sat down Space Coast Daily’s Giles Malone to talk about the upcoming NASA and SpaceX rocket launch on May 27  from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Sheriff Ivey expressed his excitement for the Space Coast as the launch features the first astronauts to leave U.S. soil since the end of the space shuttle program in 2011.

Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley will be heading to the International Space Station in a Crew Dragon capsule on May 27 at 4:32 p.m. ET from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Due to COVID-19 and social distancing measures in place from the CDC, Sheriff Ivey expressed the importance to practice what the CDC has in place while partaking in this important piece of history for the Space Coast.
