Kaanu Olaniyi has been able to distinguish himself as a talent that will shake the world of basketball for a long time to come after making the 14-player list of Gianluca BARILARI. The 14 players selected by the coach will face Macedonia for the first competition window for pre-qualifying for the EuroBasket 2021.

Olaniyi, however, has not had the easiest of career, after the young Swiss interior of BC Boncourt suffered a ligament tear in one knee.

This means that the player will miss the rest of the season for the Swiss Basketball League Jurassic club. Prior to the injury, Kaanu Olaniyi was running 2.9 points, 4 rebounds on average over his 11 games played.

Kaanu has been one of the major forces driving BCB all through the season, with more than 15 minutes of playing time per game. Consequently, his injury dealt a heavy blow on the club, who are currently rumored to be in search of a replacement for the talented players as they continue the pursuit of a top 6 since finish in the Swiss Basketball League.

Kaanu Olaniyi has also been found on the wrong side of the law after he was suspended for two games by Swiss Basketball. The player picked up the suspension after throwing the ball in the direction of one of the referees during Act II of the quarter-finals of the playoffs of the Swiss Basketball League.

His post-match comments on social media also irked the Swiss Basketball Federation, which led to the suspension.

BC Boncourt has however been able to reinforce the squad with the addition of two players. Arthur Edwards, American winger, and Marc Seylan, well-known Franco-Swiss point guard at the BCB, will play with the Jura basketball club this season.

Coached by the experienced Vladimir Ruzicic, BC Boncourt has endured a somewhat tough season, having to add to their arsenal amidst departures and injuries that have left the club with an interesting mix of players.

The current workforce of the team includes Marc Seylan (1); Karl Cochran (ext 1.2); Juraj Kozic (1,2,3); Eric Fongué (2,3); Arthur Edwards (2,3,4); Kevin Monteiro (3.4); Amir Soap (4,5); Dainius Chatkevicius (5).
