BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE – Melbourne police arrested Christopher Luke Hosang, 29, after an officer stopped his vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign May 22.

“As Officer Blazewicz was speaking with him she made him aware that she could smell marijuana, and Hosang admitted to smoking marijuana,” said Melbourne police spokesperson Christina Brainard in a release.

“When she asked him if he had any drugs or weapons in the car, he told her he didn’t and gave her consent to search this vehicle.”

According to Brainard, during the search officers discovered a 12-gauge shotgun on the backseat and a handgun with a loaded magazine in the console between the driver and passenger seat.

Officers also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

“Hosang’s concealed weapons permit came back suspended and he did not have a medical marijuana card,” said Brainard.

“He was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, carrying concealed weapons, two citations for running a stop sign as well as not wearing a seat belt. He was processed and turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
