BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – On Saturday, Palm Bay Firefighter Adam Veres was credited with rescuing an 18-year-old drowning victim from a farm pond off of Broken Well Lane.

According to the Palm Bay Fire Department, after a Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy had entered the water searching with no luck, Veres jumped in without hesitation and swam to the area that a bystander last saw the swimmer.

Veres dove down twice, successfully finding the patient on the second attempt.

As he began trying to pull the patient ashore, DE Brian Weigle, Firefighter Bear Sweeney and Kevin Reynolds also jumped into the water and helped pull the patient to safety.

Brevard County Fire Rescue R-88 and the E-4 crew then began CPR and life-saving measures and transported the patient to Sebastian Hospital.

The current condition of the patient is unknown at this time.
