BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The City of Melbourne’s Planning and Zoning Board currently has openings for new members. Serving on this board offers a unique opportunity for meaningful involvement in civic life and a rare opportunity for public service.

The responsibility is great, and so are the rewards.

This board plays a critical role in community development by making recommendations to the City Council on issues related to zoning, comprehensive planning, land development regulations, and development-related projects.

This board examines proposals and in some cases makes the final decision on certain site plans.

Serving on the Planning and Zoning Board is a great way to directly impact community issues. Board service also provides an opportunity to build new skills, gain leadership experience, and expand professional and personal network.

The Planning and Zoning meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber.

Only Melbourne residents who are registered voters are eligible to serve on the Planning & Zoning Board.
