VERO BEACH, FLORIDA – Beginning July 1, the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is offering Family Adventures. Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, the ELC team decided they did not want to potentially increase transmission of the virus and not offer traditional summer camps in 2020.

The health and safety of our community has been, and will continue to be ELC’s primary focus.

These Lagoon Island Family Adventures will allow ELC to draw on their strengths to deliver an even greater impact— balancing outdoor activity, fun, learning and protection of health.

Heather Kramer, an Environmental Educator at the ELC said, “In an effort to still be able to serve the community with outdoor opportunities, we are offering camp-like activities for the whole family to enjoy!”

Family adventurers can choose three activities, including seine net fishing, campfire cooking, survivor hour, nature journaling, and an aquarium experience.

ELC’s classic activities include canoeing, pond dip netting and benthic exploration are also among the opportunities to choose from.

The Environmental Learning Center is a 64-acre 501(c)(3) not-for-profit nature center. Our mission is to educate, inspire and empower all people to be active stewards of the environment and their own well-being.

The ELC serves the community through school field trips, camps, lecture series, professional development and more.

Our campus includes native plant gardens, boardwalks, kayaks, canoes, a pontoon boat, children’s play area and many other amenities that help increase access to nature for people of all ages.
