order extends test eligibility window through July 31

Gov. Ron DeSantis has released an Emergency Order that provides flexibility on the BPS Bright Futures programs.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Gov. Ron DeSantis has released an Emergency Order that provides flexibility on the Bright Futures programs.

School staff will have the flexibility to grant the completion of volunteer hours based on the students’ intentions to complete the hours.

BPS is asking students to turn in plans as schools will use those plans to assume that the student would have completed those hours.

The order also extends the test eligibility window through July 31.

BPS mentions that there is one ACT administration on July 18 that would allow students another attempt at qualification.

BPS currently has testing scheduled at Astronaut, Bayside, Cocoa, Melbourne and Satellite.

The registration has been extended an additional week allowing students to register through June 26, without a penalty.

The sites will be added to ACT’s registration portal today.

ACT is providing safety guidelines and BPS will ensure appropriate safety protocols are put in place to adhere to CDC guidelines.

The flexibility applies to qualification for:

– Florida Academic Scholars
– Florida Medallion Scholars
– Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars
– Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholars award
