Space Coast Chapter of AUSA to Celebrate Anniversary Chapter Plans Wreath Laying on July 1 at 10 a.m.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) is planning to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the national organization.
This event will be commemorated by placing a patriotic decorated wreath at the AUSA plaque at the Veteran’s Memorial Center on July 1 at 10 a.m.
The center is located at 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy in Merritt Island.
AUSA commemorates the event each year with tributes and celebrations throughout the country to recognize the service of the military branch.
AUSA is the only nonprofit educational and professional development association serving America’s Army and encompasses 122 chapters around the world.
The Association of the United States Army was established in 1950 to provide a voice for the Army and support for the soldier.
AUSA fosters public support of the Army’s role in national security and providing professional and informational programs. It is a private, non-profit that acts as an advocacy group and hosts the largest military convention at its annual meeting each year in Washington, DC.
“The wreath-laying ceremony is highly symbolic of the recognition and appreciation to all of our soldiers who have died in the line of duty or have served our country in their careers,” said Col. Phil LoSchiavo (ret.), president of the Space Coast Chapter.
“Our chapter donated the AUSA plaque to the Veteran’s Memorial Park about seven years ago, so it is with honor to lay a wreath at this donation.”
The chairman of the board for the chapter, JB Hudson, along with Maj Steve Barber (ret), the executive vice president, will lead the ceremony and the public is welcome to join the leadership of the AUSA Space Coast chapter at the official wreath-laying ceremony.
“As an active member of the Space Coast chapter of AUSA, I am a long-standing vocal supporter of our military,” said Hudson.
“We honor those that have given their lives in the line of duty to protect our country and this symbolic wreath-laying ceremony helps convey all of our sentiments.”
Baber said the chapter continues to serve the community, supporting veterans and supporting both Senior and Junior ROTC in the area.
The Space Coast chapter includes Brevard, Volusia, Indian River, St. Lucie, Okeechobee and Martin counties. Membership is open to all residents and previous military experience is not a requirement to join.
