BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Titusville police officials released a statement Monday evening in regard to a social media post made by the Brevard County Fraternal Order of Police on Saturday.

“Based on recent comments on social media, we want to ensure our community members that the FOP is a fraternal organization that has nothing to do with our recruitment or hiring process,” said  TPD in a press release.

“We want to ensure our community that the City of Titusville has sole discretion on our recruitment and hiring process. As part of our Department’s commitment to our community to hire the best possible candidates for police officers, we pride ourselves on hiring based on character over any previous police experience.

“We will continue to recruit local candidates that best reflect our community and our culture of transparency and accountability because that is what our citizens have asked us to do.”
