BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Emergency Management is hosting a meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, virtually due to COVID-19. Those interested in participating can call into the conference at 1-888-585-9008 and enter the passcode, 643-378-236#.

In 1998, public and private sector interests of Brevard County joined together as Brevard Prepares to pre-identify critical facilities, and projects and programs that could be done to help reduce the impacts of future disasters.

The projects and programs are called “mitigation initiatives.”

Every 5 years, the State reviews and approves the LMS using state and federal guidance documents. This notice is part of the plan, inviting the public to participate and comment on the review process.

Currently, the Brevard Steering Committee hears new initiative applications and guides the local mitigation process on an annual basis.

Please participate in the virtual public comment meeting on July 23, 2020, to submit your comments on the 2020 Draft LMS.

The 2020 Draft Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) will also be available for public comment upon request from July 20 through July 24.

To download the 2020 Draft LMS, please contact Debbie Coles at Debbie.Coles@BrevardFL.gov.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, persons needing accommodations to participate in the proceedings should notify the Housing and Human Services Department no later than 48 hours prior to the meeting. Please call 321-633-2076 and ask for Brian Breslin.
