BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On Monday our Crime Prevention Unit hosted another Brevard County Sheriff’s Office “Shred Event”.

The event is done in conjunction with Vital Records Control who partners with the Sheriff’s Office to coordinate the event and who properly disposes of the documents as a service to help protect our citizens.

Our Shred Events are a free service to the public that helps combat Identify Theft and other types of fraudulent activities.

During Monday’s event, our team collected 9,789 pounds of documents which far exceeded our expectations to the point we brought in a second truck to handle the overload.

Please join us for the next Shred Event on September 21 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m at our South Precinct located at 1515 Sarno Road in Melbourne.

And of course a huge thank you to Vital Records Control for partnering with us to help keep Brevard County a safe place to call home.
