Lt. Mike Bandish Will Retire After Stellar 31-Year Career With Palm Bay Police Department

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Lieutenant Michael Bandish will retire July 27 after more than 31 years of stellar service to the residents of the city.

“Please join us in congratulating him on an incredible career and wishing him well in his future,” said Lt. Bandish’s colleagues at PBPD.

“It has been an honor and privilege for every one of us to have worked alongside Mike. Words cannot truly express the impact he has had on us all.”

After graduating number one in his Brevard County Police Academy class in 1989, Lt. Bandish chose the Palm Bay Police Department as his home.

His dedication to public safety and building relationships in our community earned him numerous promotions throughout his career, rising from officer, to detective, to Sergeant, to Lieutenant.

“Mike’s skills and talents were utilized continuously over the years as he not only impacted the community but also served as a mentor and example to the many men and women who have worn the Palm Bay Police Department uniform over the past 31 years,” said Lt. Bandish’s colleagues at PBPD.

Lt. Brandish’s career encompassed all facets of law enforcement:

• Tactical Anti-Crime Team
• Palm Bay Street Crimes Unit
• Special Investigations Unit
• Criminal Investigation Division
• Police Athletic League Director
• Special Ops Commander for the General Crimes Unit, School Resource Program & SIU
• Palm Bay Special Events Planner and Derelict Vessel Manager, working jointly with the City of Palm Bay’s management team on the Economic Development Committee
• City of Palm Bay’s Emergency Manager for response to all hazards including several hurricanes and other disasters, and Homeland Security incidents
• Public Information Officer, forging lasting rapport with many large news publications and local and national television news channels
• Patrol Division Watch Commander

Due to his continued dedication, many times in the face of danger, Lt. Brandish received two Distinguished Service Cross Awards, numerous recognition and commendation citations, and many Meritorious Service Awards.
