OBITUARY: Marilyn ‘Lynn’ Derks Goris, 90, of Indialantic, Passed Away Peacefully July 13

BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – Marilyn “Lynn” Derks Goris, 90, of Indialantic, Florida peacefully left this earth on July 13, 2020, to go to be with her heavenly Savior Jesus.
Lynn was born on December 7, 1929, to Albertus Derks and Josephine Schipper Derks in Holland, Michigan. She married John Boukamp Goris on August 26, 1950.
Lynn is survived by their three children – Debra Busey (James), Champaign, IL; Steven Goris, Whitsitt, NC; and Timothy Goris (Lynn), Indialantic, FL.
At the time of her death, Lynn had six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister Patricia Tysse (John) of Holland, MI. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and brother Richard.
For the first 24 years of her marriage, Lynn was a dedicated wife, homemaker, and mother who also actively engaged in church activities, bridge groups, and women’s organizations.
In 1974, John and Lynn relocated to Satellite Beach, Florida where they opened and operated two Christian bookstores in Cocoa Beach and Indialantic.
In 1980, they sold the bookstores and moved to the mountains of North Carolina where together they embarked on a real estate and development business.
Upon their final retirement from business in 1998, they re-located back to Indialantic, Florida.
Throughout her life, Lynn was a dedicated Christian who engaged in regular Bible Study and was committed to volunteering and supporting her church. She loved nothing better than to share with others her love of the Lord and the blessings of living a faith-filled life.
She shared her faith and mentored countless other women and young girls throughout her journey – all the way to the end of her life. Lynn’s love and caring for others was a blessing to all her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
