BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In the latest edition of “Sit Down with Steve,” Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson sat down with longtime Brevard County School Administrator Gary Shiffrin to discuss his career in education and numerous years of service to Brevard County.

Shiffrin’s career in the Brevard County education system spanned 42 years – coaching a variety of sports and was the Cape Coast Conference Commissioner for 22 years.

His first teaching job came when he was hired by Melbourne High School in the early 1970s.

Shiffrin coached the first inter-scholastic girl’s volleyball team there when the sport was added to the Florida High School Athletic Association.

But as his job moved from teaching to administration, so did his role in Brevard County sports when he became the athletic director at Cocoa Beach High School in 1980.

Shriffin was inducted into the Space Coast Daily Sports Hall of Fame in 2015 and a recipient of the Space Coast Public Service Awards Lifetime Achievement Award.
