AAU Junior Olympic Games Delays Events to August 8 Due to Hurricane Isaias Threat

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As Hurricane Isaias looms in the Atlantic, the National Weather Service has issued a Hurricane warning with hurricane conditions possible along portions of the Florida east coast beginning Saturday.

In an abundance of caution, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and Sunshine States Games have made the following changes to the AAU Junior Olympic Games:

■ Beach Volleyball – 15u and 16u division will play on Saturday, August 1 only. Sunday’s games have been combined into Saturday. The games will start at 7 a.m.

■ 7-vs-7 Football – The girls and boys divisions of 7-vs-7 football have been postponed to August 8-9.

■ Swimming – The start time for final day of the swimming competition has been moved to begin at 7 a.m. instead of 8 a.m.

■ Presidential Youth Fitness Program Competition (PYFP) – The date of the event has been moved to Saturday, August 8.

There will no changes to Basketball and Karate events.
