BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue Engine 83 had the first tropical storm rescue Sunday morning as a momma duck was frantically pacing around a storm drain in West Melbourne.
A concerned citizen found seven ducklings in the drain off Norfolk Parkway after they fell through the grates and called for assistance.
With a little ingenuity, the ducklings were saved before the expected 2-4 inches of rain and foul weather hit the county.
“Don’t worry, the momma duck won’t get the bill,” joked BCFR officials.
