Melbourne Man, 22, Dies in Crash After Losing Control of Sport Utility Vehicle on I-95

Crash happened around 3:50 a.m. Saturday morning

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident Saturday morning involving a 22-year-old man who crashed a sport utility vehicle traveling southbound on I-95 near mile marker 185.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident Saturday morning involving a 22-year-old man who crashed a sport utility vehicle traveling southbound on I-95 near mile marker 185.

The victim, a resident of  Melbourne, lost control of the vehicle and struck a guard rail around 3:50 a.m. Saturday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

State troopers say the vehicle overturned, causing the driver to be ejected out of the vehicle.

The man involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities have not identified the victim.

In accordance with a state policy by the Florida Highway Patrol, the names of victims in crashes will not be released to the public. FHP cites the Constitution of the State of Florida for the new change.

The crash remains under investigation.
