BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – On Saturday, July 25, 2020, Florence Jeanette Carew, passed away in her home at the age of 93. What a blessing it is to know she was able to surprise her late husband, Owen, in heaven on his birthday.

Florence was born on February 19, 1927, in Freeburn, KY to Lando and Annie Gooslin. On October 13, 1945, she married her sweetheart, Owen.

In the early years of their marriage, Florence worked in the home raising their seven children: Patricia (Brooks), Bill, Jim, Elizabeth (Schreiber), Donald, Danny, and John.

Once the kids were grown, Florence worked as a cashier at Picadilly where she sprinkled sunshine on everyone she met.

For sixty-one years, Florence loved her husband well. She was an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother. When she wasn’t whipping up something in the kitchen for her family, you would likely find her working in her yard.

She spent hours upon hours outside push-mowing her lawn, raking leaves, and tending her roses- right up until her 90th birthday.

Though she loved hard work, Florence never left the house without being dressed to the nines. With gold shoes, a sparkly top, and a little bling around her neck, there was only one other place Florence loved to be– in church, worshiping the Lord.

Florence gave her heart to the Lord when she was 39 and spent the next 54 years serving Him with all her might. She was a shining example of Jesus in the flesh.

She loved the world well and served them unashamedly. To know her, was to love her.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Owen, her two sons, Danny and Donald, her grandson, Tony, and her great-grandchildren, Isaac and Robbie.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia and Elizabeth, her three sons, Bill, Jim, and John, as well as a plethora of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

On Saturday, August 8, 2020, a funeral service will be held at the Avenue Worship Center of East Coast Christian Center at 85 Richland Avenue in Merritt Island.

The viewing will be at 3 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. The burial will be on Monday, August 10, at 10 a.m. at Brevard Memorial Park. Flowers may be sent to 5475 North US-1, Cocoa, FL 32927.
